Colored lights on tanks

Post by Carnivine »

I have a tank that I have been trying to cycle for a month now, however the light is one of the weird ones that cycles between like 5 different colors. Will this still work for the shrimp and for algae growth or do I need to get a different tank/light? At the very least do I need to cycle it longer?

Hi, Carnivine! Colored lights should be fine as long as they provide a 12-hour light and 12-hour dark cycle. However, plants like algae may have trouble with photosynthesis. Just to be on the safe side, I would get normal lights. Day light LEDs or cool white or warm white are fine.
