Hello!
I started my tank with a 1.1 gallon tank from amazon, substrate, lava rocks, calcium carbonate (shells), salt, and microalgae all bought here.
I mixed the amount of salt for one gallon into a distilled water gallon bought from the store and once it dissolved completely, added enough to fill the tank. The tank has a low led light source on the top that has been cycling on/off for roughly twelve hours at a time every day for about three weeks.
I still have not noticed any algae growth on the rocks or anything soooo I just received the ten shrimp and I definitely do not want to put them in an inhospitable environment but also don't want to leave them in a box for days. I would love to hear any suggestions, I did purchase the Safestart plus but I have not used it as I've heard that can cause more problems with excess nutrients.
Is my tank ready for the shrimp?

Three weeks is fine. Introduce the shrimp to their new home and do NOT use the Safestart additive.

Safestart is made for fresh water and the bacteria in it will most likely be killed by the salinity of your tank. Don't use it.

Thank you! Would you recommend drip acclimating them beforehand? I was planning on attempting it without the proper equipment, like just taking a tablespoon out and replacing that with the water in my tank every five-10 minutes?

Acclimation isn't necessary. But if you're concerned you could just let the bag of new shrimp sit until it reaches room temperature, then just add them straight to the tank.

Awesome! I just let them in the tank after sitting out for about an hour. They went straight to exploring and combing through the substrate!SuperProofer wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2020 12:43 pm Acclimation isn't necessary.
