Re: My Progress
And today I see 5. And now the red one must have dropped her single egg because there are 6.
Re: My Progress
Yesterday I saw 7 floaters and I'm wondering now now long is it before they morph? The first ones showed up 12 days ago. I did notice a couple of them going to the bottom and moving through the gravel before floating back up. Does that indicate they're getting ready?
I read here that these shrimp don't multiply as fast as the freshwater ones do. My experience has been the opposite. I tried for well over a year to get a colony of Neocaridinas going and failed completely. I only ever saw 2 berried ones and they lost the eggs within a few days. I bought almost 30 shrimp and none lived longer than 4 months except for 2 that came in as shrimplets. Those 2 grew and thrived for 8 months before finally both dying within 24 hours of each other. They were a male and female too. The female had eggs about 3 weeks before she died but lost them all. Now, in about 90 days with these guys, I have floaters!

Re: My Progress
Possibly, since they do lose the ability to freely float when they metamorphose.Dch48 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2019 4:37 am Yesterday I saw 7 floaters and I'm wondering now now long is it before they morph? Re: My Progress
23 days now so they should be changing soon. I have seen them sometimes clinging to the tank wall or to the sea fan like they were actually starting to graze. I think I can see the beginnings of the tail fins on them as well.
Re: My Progress
Today, one of the floaters is not floating head down but is actually swimming around head first and then clinging to the glass and possibly grazing.
Re: My Progress
There is definitely at least one juvenile shrimp who has been seen swimming and grazing. I looked at it under magnification and it has small legs. There are still 4 floaters but they are starting to cling to things and sometimes swim head first so they should be fully morphed soon as well.
Re: My Progress
Thanks for your continuous updates! Have you had more success with offspring in the meantime?
Re: My Progress
A lot more. Right now I have about 20 floaters and there are 2 more berried females. I'm having a population explosion.
Re: My Progress
That's awesome! I love hearing the words "population explosion", haha!
