Chaetomorpha, should I acclimatise it?

Post by Mech »

So I have gotten some chaetomorpha in the post, I take it the guy had it in a marine sump or what ever and probably is around 1.022 - 1.025 sg and my tank or at around 1.016sg, shoukd I acclimatise it before it goes in my tank?

Any help would be appreciated and I'm planning getting it in some water when I'm home from work to do it :)

Thanks.

Mech why not try this. Try a portion in a bowl at 1.016 for a month or two and see if you get any growth. In another bowl try to acclimatize it slowly from 1.022 to 1.016. This way should either or both die it would not affect your shrimp tank.

Almost all your chaetomorpha will die... But some cells would acclimate. Even if you think everything is dead try to wait and see if it grow again.
