green shrimp ID

I got a batch of amanos from my LFS and one of them was very green and obviously not an amano. I noticed also that the eyes are very close to the head, not buggy like the amanos. The rest looks almost the same. This one also has a little dot on the side of the head.

I'll try to get a pic. What are the characteristics that uniquely identify a green shrimp? I can't get enough details from the "shrimp varieties" page for a positive ID but nothing else comes close.

If they are green and are from India, they are green shrimp, the same as on my shrimp varieties page. Other than that they just look like your average dwarf shrimp in body shape. For all other distinctions on the species level you would have to look at the shrimp under the microscope. But then, there isn't even a positive ID on the scientific name of this shrimp (possibly undescribed). So IDing shrimp is a mess.

They are green, but not all that green, at least not right now. As to where they are from- who knows. The LFS guy won't say what his source is.

I'll see how photgenic this guy is.

Agree....I just found out yesterday my 3rd green shrimp is pregnant and loaded with dark greenish color eggs. :-D Just loaded
The other loaded green shrimp's eggs are turning from green to a very light green color now. The 1st green shrimp that were carrying "light yellow" color eggs have disappeared :( . Hopefully, all of the shrimplets have hatched and I just have not observed them yet.
