I think he should go out and get more! This looks like an awsome female filter feeder. I'd guess from the body shape this to be an Atyopsis species.

Yours is a filter feeder, and the color of most of them goes drab when they are stressed. Make them happy, then check. This is not a macrobrachium, Xiphocaris or palaemon shrimp. Stick with the filter feeders as this is one for sure.

i think you misunderstand me :)
we are now agree on the actual pics and it is Micratya poeyi

after that

i say my brother tell me he saw some other shrimp hiding in the vegetation, and did not get pics, but he will return on site try get some pics or catch
and after he describe them to me i think it is :

- Xiphocaris elongata
or
- Macrobrachium acanthurus
or
- Palaemon pandaliformis

anyway when i have the pics will post them

sorry for the misunderstanding

Yes, this is indeed a Micratya. Those are very nice shrimp. The small transparent shrimp are most likely Xiphocaris elongata and juvenile Macrobrachium species.

It would be great to breed the Micaratya in large quantities one day. Unfortunately, their larvae are even smaller and go through more larval stages than Caridina japonica larvae. I'm going to give it a shot in the future for sure once I get my hands on some of these shrimp.

Mustafa,
i have a little problem with the Micratya poeyi, habitat.
where my brother found this shrimp , i cannot see how the larvae can reach salt/backwish water and come back.
i know fish and shrimp can loose us many time , because the nature is sometime very complex but the sea is realy far , and i cannot found any communication between the actual place he found the shrimp and the sea.

just want to give my thougth, continuing my research on this species.
and i am still waiting the weather get better to get some here to work with.

Description of area may help

Post by seansd »

Was it a stream, lake or a pool? Is it an area subject to flooding from storms-diven waves? Could they be washed in from elsewhere or sea waves providing just enough brackish conditions?
