Guess it doesn't take long before Cherry shrimp start reproducing. Yesterday was the first for two of my females to drop and the others are soon to do the same. Little less than three weeks from egg to shrimp. I bought these from Mustafa in April and they were maybe around a 1/4 inch in size at best. I decided to stop feeding them and let them only sustain themselves on the available algae so as to slow them down...if they can be.
Congrats! These guys grow very quickly (as you have seen) and reproduce very nicely if given clean water and food. You have to start out with a healthy stock with males and females, though. Most of the Red Cherries that are offered in stores or online are *not* domestically bred and hence are usually all female in addition to being quite sensitive. That's one of the reasons why you hear about people who cannot breed these guys! (Another reason being bad water parameters...).
Post some pictures of your shrimp if you can. I am curious how my juvies turned out as adults.
I ordered 10 cherry shrimp about 3 weeks ago and there were 6 babies in the bag by the time they showed up on my doorstep. After 3 weeks, I already have about 2 dozen babies running around my desktop tanks. I can't say that I'm upset about it, either.
