Re: shrimp and crayfish???

I have a 4.5" (not including claws) P. Alleni in my RCS tank. I've never seen her go after the shrimp. There are always a few perched on her back. The tank is a 20gal long with just a few caves for the crayfish. The cray will eat just about any plant that touches the gravel so I have a few Red-...

Gonochoric Triops Longicaudatus

Has anyone had these produce eggs that hatch without drying? I have what appear to be a male and female. I understand that they do not necessarily have to mate to have eggs but I can see the female is definitely carrying eggs. I was just wondering if I'm going to have to dry out the sand before I tr...

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

This is the only difference that I could see that made me think it was a female.

I'm sure there is something on the male that I am missing to determine the sex.

All of my Rusties are the dark solid rusty color. Does that mean all I have are males?
Yes, the females get some color, too, with or without tannins in the water (as can be seen on my picture in their species description), but they don't get to be a solid brown as the males.

I'm not Mustafa, but I did receive some snowballs from him recently. They were about 1/2" when I got them if I remember correctly.

Bad news...

Last night before bed I noticed that she was not caring the eggs anymore and this afternoon when I got home from work she was dead.
I have no idea what could have happened to her.

Should I isolate her and see if the eggs hatch?
What would be the best environment?

There are far fewer than a hundred eggs, probably closer to 20 or so.

The males claws were very much larger and darker than the females.

All I have is a point and shoot digital so my pics are really horrible. You can kind of make out the eggs.
