Re: Old Tank & Transferring Larva?
Mini update- so many larva were released, I decided to try moving them. I had a mini cube storage container than I had thrown the extra rocks and brackish water in when I had first set up and forgot about it. It had algae so I'm sure it was well cycled. Taking a straw, I just used gravity and suctio...

Re: Old Tank & Transferring Larva?
Thank you for your reply. If safer to wait, of course will go that route. Another question than- are newly metamorphosed shrimp slower than their adult counter parts? When the tank was originally set up, rocks were superglued down, but after the move, they've loosened and are no longer locked agains...

Old Tank & Transferring Larva?
I have babies :smt007 had four berried shrimp, two of them have released. It's been such a nice surprise, they got berried before the "shelter in place" happened with coronavirus- so it's a welcome distraction. Background: I moved recently, so I combined the shrimp from two one-gallon tank...

Re: How long do floaters float?
I found that floaters are attracted to light.
Just an idea- shine a small flashlight at the top of the tank. I’ve noticed they seem to gather towards the beam.
It may draw some out of hiding spots and make for a better head count

Re: Spider LIVING in my tank???
I don't know if it's because of the angle, but it almost looks like a tick. A quick google search says they can possibly live under water for 2-3 days

Re: New article about "brackish tolerant plants"
I remember you posting that! Wonder what happened. I'd love to order some from Mustafa if he's managed to get it going. I'm sure he's just making sure it's long-term tested. The difficulty in selling this plant is that it needs to sent attached to a rock as the *only* part that grows and reproduces...

Re: Opae ula disease?
It did not have the distinct white spikes of Vorticella, but I was nervous about the possibility of Ellobiopsis- the fringing on the swimmerets was similar, but it coated bits of their antennae in the end & it was different in color... more light orange than the green that characterizes Ellobiop...

Re: Opae ula disease?
That’s interesting because I distinctly remember commenting “aww it looks like they have tiny boxing gloves!” when they were picking at the rock... and it was after a major water change (i had a mini ammonia spike even though it had all the signs it was cycled before i got them)... just now i checke...

Re: Opae ula disease?
Thank you for your kind words and advice shrimpnoobie :) Will be tearing it down this evening. 1) Pouring boiling water on lava rock (not boiling the rock itself, hoping no “rock explosions” happen  ) 2) hot water and vinegar for glass tank 3) boiling the sand and crushed limestone gravel (be...

Re: Opae ula disease?
Thank you for replying Mustafa. This is very sad. The seller said he’s been breeding for 8 years... i know i can’t take everything for face value, but by the reviews he had, he seemed genuine *sigh* Read a few more articles, but nothing conclusive in the way of a solution or remedy.. If it is a para...

Opae ula disease?
Hello. :smt006 Am a newbie, both here & with opae ula (but not new to aquatic life or shrimp keeping). :smt060 I have two small tanks, each one is a gallon. One is (almost) a complete crash and the other is stable. Tank one: The almost crashed tank is nearing it’s end because there are only two ...
