Small amount is fine, I just don't dose as much as with other tanks. Well, partly due to the fact I don't use CO2(another source of possible accidents) and plants don't grow that fast. I use KNO3, K2SO4, KH2PO4 and Flourish like with other tanks, but I am dosing NO3 and Flourish daily in tiny amount...

I have to say what you see are not cherries. I think I have tons of those little critters you talked about, zipping around in the tank. Baby cherries look exactly like their parents, just without much color initially. I used to have a pic only a few hours after hatching, can't find it now. But here ...

super red

I also found the redness of cherries varied quite a lot. There are some "superred" cherries in my tank, which are almost pure blood red, no purple/dark hue at all. Those ones also show redness at a VERY young age. Young adult: http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/4149/cherrysuper8ak.th.jpg J...

My tank is at that temp right now due to warm weather. I noticed cherries are still breeding, but dropping some eggs. In other words, not as prolific as before. My crystal reds drop even more eggs, which did not happen when the weather was cooler and the temp was in mid 70s.

Well, I can confirm my 5 neon tetras in my heavily planted 10 gallon got to 2/3 to 3/4 of my first batch of crystal red babies from three females. I actually caught one eating a baby crystal red shrimp. Sure, some survived(about a dozen), but more are lost. My tank is now shrimp only. On the other h...

Try getting some filter media from the 20g and put it into 10g, you have instantly cycled 10g.

I was counting roughly 15-20 eggs right before hatching. I was finding fewer hatched shrimplets than expected, then I found the Neon tetras eating the shrimplets! So I removed the neons and the tank is now shrimp only. I had 3 females giving birth over the last several weeks, about a dozen shrimplet...

Do not mess with ph using chemicals. I keep crystal reds in water with 7.5-8.0 ph. It is a heavily planted tank with no CO2 supplement, so the ph can go pretty high during photoperiod. Crystal reds breed happily in the tank. So do cherry reds and bumble bees. I do use RO water to soften the water, I...
